The national lockdown, brought upon as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, forced everyone to stay indoors. This meant everyday things like eating at a restaurant, taking the dog for a walk or a visiting a family member was completely forbidden for the time being. The pandemic hit lots of people hard financially where ‘luxuries’ like gym memberships were one of the first things deemed surplus to the monthly budget.
Fast forward to the present and things are much rosier than before. With summer right around the corner, many people are working hard to get their bodies in shape because the gyms are open for business again and will undoubtedly be filled to (legal) capacity.
The great thing about modern technology is the fact that everything from movies to music can be streamed from the convenience of a smartphone or smart device – this even includes having your own personal gym. It might not be as exciting as the real thing but there are numerous benefits to be had from working out at home, like:
Privacy – Not everyone is particularly comfortable with working out in public, so being in a space without feeling self-conscious will make exercising more enjoyable. Whether it’s a miff green pants from the 90s or a pair of torn tights, you also get to wear whatever you want and most importantly, what you feel comfortable in.
Workout freedom – You are the boss of your own workout time so the time of day and the duration is totally up to you. Working out alone also allows you to incorporate different types of exercises that you wouldn’t maybe have done in a public setting.
Saves time – The thought of still having to drive to the gym after a long day at work can be off-putting. If the lounge is your gym then there is less stress to manage time effectively, not having to wait for others to complete their workout on specific equipment and also saving a bit of the fuel spend.
