Come rain or shine, vehicles take us where we need to be and in order for them to keep doing so, they need to be kept in top shape by way of regular servicing.
All new vehicles come standard with a service plan, that can also be extended at an extra cost. It gives the driver peace of mind that no extra cash has to be forked out for additional maintenance.
Services are mileage specific so it is best to know the specific intervals that can be found in the service book or by contacting the dealership.

This the cheapest and most common service of the bunch that involves changing the oil and oil filter – usually for below R1 000. The purpose is to keep oil circulation in the engine fresh and prevent sludge buildup. The service intervals are generally shorter (below 10 000km) and often carried out at the owner’s discretion.
This is a combination of changing both the fluids along with components like the spark plugs, fuel filter, and any pollen (cabin air) filters. While the parts are usually cheap to buy (depending on the brand), labour costs can push the overall price well into the four figure region.
This is type of service is mileage dependent and includes the replacement of critical items such as timing belts/chains, waterpump as well as a detailed inspection of various mechanical components in your vehicle. If your vehicle is not covered under any sort of mechanical warranty, then it is recommended to set some cash aside – though such components usually have a lifespan of 100 000 – 120 000km.
