Many of us, especially students and new graduates, opt for smaller flats in order to save money. The problem then comes with how to furnish and decorate in a way that can optimize the space.
Here are four easy tips to save space if a small flat is where you call home.
- Hang as much as you can. While it is obvious that a lot of décor can be hung, many fail to consider hanging some of their everyday items, too. Consider hanging things like pots, pans, and coffee mugs in the kitchen. Additionally, a great bedside table for small spaces is simply a floating shelf beside your bed.
- Consider a murphy bed. While futons may also work nicely for optimizing space, you will be hard-pressed to find one that both looks nice and has the comfort level you want from a bed. A murphy bed is a great alternative!
- Use corner desks. Corners are often neglected, yet they are perfect if you are wanting to take up less space. A corner desk is a great option here.
- Opt for furniture that sits off the ground. Furniture with exposed legs, allowing the furniture to be raised off the ground, are great for saving space as you can then use the area below as storage space.
