Hats off, Suzuki, you’ve done it again. Fresh from a record-breaking month in December 2021, they’ve only gone and done it again, breaking virtually every single sales record in a single month.
The Japanese automaker announced itself to the South African market back in 2008 and has gone from strength to strength in the ensuing 14 years up to now – and it shows. According to Naamsa’s monthly vehicle statistics for January 2022, Suzuki Auto was the third best-selling vehicle manufacturer in January, behind the usual big hitters – Toyota and Volkswagen.
Where specific models are concerned, a total of 1 058 Swift 1.2 and 11 Swift Sport models all found new homes during the month of January. Seven other models – S-Presso, Jimny, Super Carry, Dzire, Vitara Brezza, Ertiga and Baleno, all recorded triple digit sales – which is a monumental achievement.
Like the saying goes, the only way to go is up for Suzuki as they’ve acquired a considerable piece of the pie. Toppling other strong contenders like Hyundai, Kia and Renault is a big deal too.
Henno Havenga, Manager of Auto Dealer Sales at Suzuki Auto South Africa, says: “We have been working hard with our head office in Japan to increase our order volumes and sourcing destinations, widen our product offering and contain price increases. This is already evident in our range today but will become even more clear as we introduce a host of product upgrades and new models in the coming months.”
