When the marketing team moved into our new offices in Cape Town, we really wanted to put our unique stamp on it…creating a space that was funky and functional, practical and pretty, and very Gumtree. Of course, we always say that you can find anything you want on Gumtree…which is why we asked our long-time friend and fan Vicki Sleet (who runs the amazing decor blog www.iwantthat.co.za) to help us decorate. The catch was that she could only use items sourced on Gumtree! This was the result:

The revamp crew started by repainting the powder blue walls with a neutral, soft grey colour from the corporate colour palette, then adding splashes of bright orange and green with accessories, including vintage lights and fabric cords in bright orange to lighten up the space and Gumtree green Astroturf for the flooring.
They also bought a very special kudu head – printed with the press cuttings and announcements from the year that was. It lends a certain African chic to the office, and it’s really great to look at the articles and milestones from the year that was.

Custom wall tattoos were used to transform a blank wall into a whiteboard, while the cupboard was changed into a functional chalkboard/calendar. A custom cork board cut into the shape of the Gumtree logo doubles up as a noticeboard and a funky decoration, while hanging planters and a heart – made entirely of printed “Polaroids” of items found on the site – completes the look.

All of these amazing products and suppliers can of course be found on www.gumtree.co.za. A special thank you to everyone involved, including the team at the Regus offices for their assistance and help – they went the extra mile to give a hand (and let us pretty much do what we wanted in terms of redecorating the space!), to the Expresso team for filming the whole event across two days, to the incredible Vicki Sleet for her organisation and planning, and to all our suppliers for choosing Gumtree to promote their business.
