There are a plethora of reasons why you may need to sell your home quickly. Perhaps you got a new job and need to relocate within the next three months, or you have found a new property to purchase that you simply cannot pass up. Whatever the reason, the ‘rule of three’ strategy should give you a leg up on selling your home as quickly as possible.
So, what is the ‘Rule of Three’?
- Fix it up.
- Clean it up.
- Spruce it up.
Easy enough, right? Here is the low down.
Fix it up. This simply means getting things repaired around your home and your property like broken tiles, old roofing or windows, cracks in the walls, or doors that stick when opening or closing. Easy-to-see maintenance issues are distracting to potential buyers and will be less than appealing. Yes, you could price your home lower to accommodate these issues, but then you will be looking for a very specific type of buyer looking for a fixer-upper. This will significantly lower your chances or selling quickly.
Clean it up. When your home is clean and tidy, down to the removal of dust on your baseboards, it looks its absolute best. First impressions are huge here, so eliminate as much clutter as possible and make every room look as close to a magazine cover as you can with the items you have.
Spruce it up. This means making any quick, and inexpensive improvements to your home that may help attract more buyers. Something like adding a fresh coat of paint to your kitchen cabinets to make them look brand new, or replacing kitchen and bathroom hardware, for example.
