LOCAL IS LEKKER
The Polo Vivo is the only locally manufactured model in the A0 segment. It has sold over 261 000 units since its market introduction in March 2010. It is known for its build quality and although on the more pricier end of the budget scale, it offers so much in terms of space, safety, comfort and value for money. And according to Volkswagen, the cost of ownership over a three-year cycle makes Polo Vivo one of the most affordable cars to own in the South African market.
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE SWAG
The Polo Vivo Mswenko has been added to the line up to bring a little swag to the Vivo range. In fact, the word Mswenko (pronounced m-swe-nkoh) is the isiZulu word for “swag.” It is all about confidence, style and the expression of attitude. Basically, it is about standing out in a crowd. And what makes it that much more special is that it is unique to South Africa.
WHAT MAKES THE MSWENKO STAND OUT?
The Polo Vivo Mswenko is based on the 1.4 63 kW Comfortline manual Vivo model which means it has the naturally aspirated 1.4-litre engine under the bonnet with its 63 kW (obviously, it is in the name) and 132 Nm of torque. It is mated exclusively to a five-speed manual transmission. It is built for city driving but still feels solid on the open road, something many a budget car fails to do.
But what makes it stand out? Well, there are Mswenko side decals, a chrome tip exhaust, 16-inch Portago alloy wheels in Anthracite, a black painted roof, privacy glass and mirror covers in two colour variants. Inside it boasts Ocean Blue seats, Anthracite headliner, silver dashboard inserts, App Connect, six speakers and a leather package (leather multi-function steering wheel, gearshift lever and gear knob). This special edition model will only be available in Pure White, Reflex Silver, Limestone Grey and Reef Blue.
