One of the biggest lessons to be learnt this year is that time is precious. With Zoom meetings, deadlines, home schooling sessions or drives to and from school for the little ones, it really can feel like there are zero hours left in the day to workout. At least hours where you have enough energy to do it, right?
A quick, mid-day lunchtime workout may be the best option for many of us. Here is how to get it done like a boss.
- Be mindful and plan ahead. The last thing you want to do when you have a limited amount of time to get a workout in, is to spend the first few minutes scrolling through your phone trying to find a workout to complete, or finding the right motivational music. Plan ahead by creating a playlist, and knowing exactly which workout you are going to focus on during each day’s session; this will help you maximize your time!
- Exchange time for intensity. You don’t have much time, maybe 30-minutes maximum, so you will want to increase your intensity to make up for that. Consider things like high intensity interval training, rather than taking a slow 15-minute jog before lifting a couple weights; this should help you reach your goals, even with such short workouts per day.
- Skip the full shower. A short lunch means you not only have to get your workout in, but you also have to look presentable again to head back to work or for your next Zoom meeting. For ladies, skip the full shower, hair wash and blow dry and rather opt for dry shampoo and a quick make-up touch-up.
- Be consistent. It can be tough to get used to increasing your heart rate and breaking a sweat in the middle of a work day, but making a habit of it will turn it into something your body actually craves and you will begin to look forward to it. Like with many things in life, consistency is key!
