Genuine Tupac memorabilia is extremely hard to come by, especially in South Africa. That makes the signed photograph of the legendary rapper, which Rakesh Ramlall from Randburg has listed on Gumtree, all the more special.
Ramlall wants R25,000 for the photo which is signed by Tupac and has a certificate of authenticity.
Ramlall bought the photograph on auction about a year ago; “I grew up listening to Tupac’s music and I jumped at the opportunity to own it”. He says his all-time favourite Tupac songs are Dear Mama and Keep Your Head Up.
The rapper, born Tupac Amaru Shakur in 1971, sold over 75 million albums – making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. When he was gunned down in Las Vegas in 1997, his signed items rocketed in value and have reached $4,999 (R74,000) in the USA.
Ramlall envisions the next owner being someone who is also a Pac fan and who appreciates his huge artistic contribution; “I have sold many items on Gumtree with great success in the past, and am sure this piece of music history will quickly find a new home”.
