Fresh and strikingly attractive – Opel launches the new Mokka SUV in SA

Opel has officially announced a brand-new version of its compact Mokka SUV.

The model’s design is big improvement over the predecessor and is inspired by the GTX Xperimental Concept Car, one of the first Opel models locally to feature the new Vizor design. Other notable exterior features are the LED headlights with daytime running light, the redesigned lightning bolt logo and stretched rear LED lights.

Both models in the range are powered by the brand’s award-winning turbocharged 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers 96kW and 230Nm, coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new model is also 120kg lighter than the generation it replaces, while the engineering team took the opportunity to also improve the rigidity of the body.

All this translates to fuel consumption figures of 5.3 and 6.1-litres/100km on the extra-urban and combined cycle respectively.

A few differences between the trims

The infotainment system comes packed with the usual functionality like a multimedia radio, USB, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Customers can choose between two packs in either trim: Speed Sign Recognition, Cruise Control with Speed Limiter,Lane Keep Assist, Forward Brake Assist (Pedestrian Detection) and Driver Attention Alert (Road Behaviour).

The other pack features: Speed Sign Recognition, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Active Lane Keep Assist & Departure Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance and Mitigation and Driver Attention Alert (Road Behaviour).

The Mokka comes standard with a 3-year or 120 000km mechanical warranty inclusive of roadside assistance, and a 4-year or 60 000km service plan.
