Ford’s next-generation Ranger bakkie to land in SA in 2022

Ford has made the announcement that many people has been waiting for – the next-generation Ranger bakkie will land on local soil next year and be officially revealed later this year.

The current generation of the Ranger has been around for more than a decade, supplemented by a plethora of special edition models, like the StormTrak, FX4 and Thunder. The blue oval brand is giving little away in terms of specification, only releasing a couple of teaser images ahead of the official unveiling.

Some exterior bits that can be seen from the concept camo footage is redesigned rear lights and a rollbar in the load bay – more information will be released closer to the official launch next year.

South Africa’s bakkie segment is one of the most hotly contested, where popular models like the Toyota Hilux, Isuzu DMAX and Volkswagen Amarok all compete for a piece of the proverbial pie. For those interested, the starting price for a Ranger bakkie in SA is R339 000 – with 2.0 and 2.2-litre single or bi-turbo diesel engines on offer.

The next-generation might not be available yet but Gumtree is the place to find your next set of wheels and one that will suit your budget.
